Phrase - I have mixed feelings about April Fool's Day because of stupid pranks.

Dependent Clause - Ever since I fell pray to a prank, I have mixed feelings about April Fool's Day.

Independent Clause - I have mixed feelings about April Fool's Day, but I think it's funny when someone else gets pranked.

Phrase - I have mixed feelings about April Fool's Day because of my sisters.

Dependent Clause - When we were younger, every year my sisters used to do stupid pranks to me and my friends, so I have mixed feelings about April's fools days.

Independent Clause- I have mixed feelings about April's Fools day, I love chocolates and flowers.

Good try, Michèle. But your second sentence uses two independent clauses, and your third sentence is a comma splice.

Dependent Clause- When I was 5, I didn't understand that my friend was playing a prank on her "broken arm," so I have mixed feelings about April's Fools Day.
