GRAMMAR QUESTION, April 4th, 2013

Correct the sentence below. There are many errors and many possible correct solutions--lots of bonus points for everyone!
 
Driving to the mall last week my car was near disappearing in a pothole: deciding to call the cities administration reporting the problem, I was hoping the problem was to be fixed quickly however its still their and its to be avoided.

When I was driving to the mall last week, my car almost disappeared in a pothole. I decided to call the city’s administration to report the problem, and I was hoping the problem was going to be fixed quickly. However, it’s still there, please try to avoid it.

When I was driving to the mall last week, my car nearly disappeared in the pothole. I decided to call the city’s administration to report the problem hoping it will be fixed quickly. However, the pothole is still there and it’s to be avoided.

While I was driving to the mall last week my car nearly disappeared in a pothole. I decided to call the city's administration to report the problem, i was hoping the pothole would get fixed quickly. However, the pothole has still not been fixed and should be avoided.

ELENA:Close--check the punctuation (last sentence), and also think about replacing "will" with a modal;-)
YADIRINY:You have a comma where you need a semicolon;-)
