Learning to combine ideas into more complex sentences is an
important skill in writing. There are many ways to do this--many possible bonus
points! Try to combine the following three sentences.
Sentence 1: People have survived both Christmas and the New
Year celebrations.
Sentence 2: Many people probably ate far too much food and
are now trying to lose weight.
Sentence 3: Good times with friends and families often
involve eating too much food.

After eating far too much food during the good times with friends and families at Christmas and New Year celebrations, many people are now trying to lose weight.
Many of our relatives probably ate far too much food on Christmas and the New Year celebration and are now trying to lose weight, but they will survive it.
HELEN: Nicely done!
ALEXIS:You have the right idea but you have brought in some new elements--stick to the original ones;-)
Good times with friends and families often involve eating too much food, yet people have survived both Christmas and the New Year celebrations, so many people probably ate far too much food and are now trying to lose weight.
After surviving both Christmas and the New Year celebrations, many people are now trying to lose weight because good times with friends and families often involve eating too much food.
YADIRINY:The only problem here is with the word "yet"--your sentence reads as though people may not have survived because they ate too much;-)
AYGUL: Good sentence:-)
