*ACTIVE vs. PASSIVE*

Write two sentences using the word talk.

In the first sentence, use the verb in the active voice; in the second sentence use it in the passive voice.

ACTIVE VOICE: That boy talked out loud

PASSIVE VOICE: That boy was talking about a car.

Active Voice: I will talk to you later.
Passive Voice: I talked to you yesterday.

Kanako, your second sentence is in the past progressive tense.

Doris, your second sentence is in the past progressive tense.

Amanda, your first sentence is in the imperative mood, and you second sentence is in the simple past tense (with "talk" used as a noun).


An example of the passive voice would be:

The scandal was talked about for years.

Note the use of [be] + the participle of the verb.
